As India marks the 73rd Independence Day Celebration, Vagdevi Vilas School and College, Bidadi decked up for the occasion. The celebration officially began with the national anthem sung by all swelling the chest with patriotism. The chief guest of the day Sri. Hiriyanna, the former scientist at ISRO, received the guard of honour, unfurled the flag, oversaw the parade by the students.

The chief guest spoke on the importance of issues and challenges that the country is encountering at present. He aspired the students to be the good citizens of the motherland, India.

Dr. Kumar, Principal of Vagdevi Vilas College, expressed concern at the reckless attitude of citizens of Independent India. How a systematic deforestation and encroachment of forest land leads to recent floods in the country. Besides, he emphasised the significance of sustainable development. He also appealed to the students to plant saplings on their birthdays. For the same, students responded quickly and accepted the request.

As a part of the celebration a few cultural programs were organised with the theme of Independence. On the eve of the Independence Day, the college organised Rangoli Competition. Students enthusiastically participated in the competition to outshine in their creative skills. Rangolies drawn were captivating and drew the attention of all.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY

The Investiture Ceremony was held on 10th July, 2019 in the school premises.

The elected candidates pledged to shoulder the responsibility sincerely and dedicatedly to their fullest potential and be creative, proactive leaders.

The Chief Guest, Chairman Shri. K Harish addressed the gathering by congratulating the student council and motivating them to persevere and focus on their goals. Strive hard to become an extraordinary person in life. Also inspired by saying that to be successful in life, efforts have to be extraordinary.

International Yoga day was celebrated in our school premises.

The children spoke about its inception, the idea proposed by our Prime Minister, Sri. Narendra Modi who had reasoned that the day being longest one of the year in Northern hemisphere and shortest in the Southern hemisphere had a special significance in many parts of the world. They also added that Yoga – Physical, mental and spiritual practice originated in India.

Surya Namaskara – salutation to Lord Surya was practised by the students from Class IV to X simultaneously. Meditation was done by the students of Class I to III. The health benefits were highlighted

Felicitation Programme for Class X toppers  was held in school premises on 18th June, 2019.

The Chief Guest of the day was Chairman, Shri. K Harish, Vagdevi Vilas Institutions.

The school toppers were felicitated with cash prize. The parents shared their pride by accompanying their wards to receive the token of appreciation from the chief guest.

The chief guest in his address congratulated the students for their academic success and inspired them by saying – For extraordinary results, efforts have to be extraordinary. The meritorious students have proved by running an extra mile to achieve magnificent results. He added that, one can become knowledgeable by recalling and regular practice. Time must be utilized efficiently since, it is more valuable than money.

World Environment Day was celebrated on 11th June, 2019, in the school campus.

Many Cultural programmes were held. It started with the students briefing the gathering about the significance of the day.

A song was sung by the choir group praising the creator who created the beautiful nature.

A street play with the message of creating awareness about pollution was performed. The Oath for environment protection was taken solemnly. Another song creating environmental awareness was sung by the students.

To mark the day, saplings were planted by each class, accompanied by their class teachers.

On Feb 28 2019, School organised ‘Jyothi Pradaan’ for the outgoing students of class X at the school amphitheater .

Parents of the students also took part in the symbolic ceremony. The programme began by invoking God’s blessings through a divine rendering by the junior students.

Importance of the day was highlighted by the lighting of the diyas as a symbol of passing the light of knowledge and certificate distribution by the honorable Chairman of VVI,  SHRI K HARISH  followed  by motivational talk by all the dignitaries of the school management. In their  address, they emphasised on to leading  a life of integrity , to be the good citizens  and also motivated them to ‘be the light of the world, so that others may look up to you’

It was indeed a special day for all of us , as the  occasion drew unparalleled enthusiasm in us while we witnessed a harmonious blending of the school with the melodious rendering of prayers and chanting of VEDAS and HANUMAN CHALISA. On 29th January 2019, Tuesday when All the  guests, well-wishers and parents had gathered to take part in the inauguration of the school AMPHITHEATRE named as Sri Bindu Madhava Sabhangana as a tribute to  Sri Sri  Bindu Madhava Swamiji of SHRIKSHETRA BELAGURU . He inaugurated the new amphitheatre and  unveiled the plaque. It was then time to thank God for being with the school and  for seeking his blessing. Swamiji led the ceremony of blessing through his inspiring talk.

We are all sure that God’s blessings of deeper love, fuller trust in God and a greater peace of heart have come down mightily on this new building and on all of us. Let’s hope that this temple of learning will stand erect for many years to come, giving the light of truth and knowledge and thereby fulfilling  the real purpose of education. Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is a progress, working together is success, this is what we experience at our school.

A workshop on Personality Development was organised for the students of class 9 and 10. The session was conducted by an eminent speaker SHRI JAYASIMHA H.A . His session covered various topics like  planning the studies , overcoming exam phobia , moulding oneself to become better citizens and the strategies required to enhance ones academic results.

Vagdevi Vilas School celebrated kannada rajyotsava with great enthusiasm, Students presented ‘vachanas’ that captured the spirit of the day. Students enthralled the audience by dancing to the tunes of popular Kannada Naada Geethe. Students also presented a speech highlighting the significance and beauty of Karnataka and its famous legends.

Shri. Manikanth A R a famous kannada writer  graced the occasion as the chief guest. He spoke about the beauty and simplicity of Kannada language and encouraged students to learn Kannada. He also emphasised on the importance of learning Kannada and threw light on the achievements of Kannadigas in various spheres of life and the rich heritage of Karnataka. The event generated a sense of pride in the minds of the audience for being a part of a culture that is so rich and vibrant

On 30th October 2018, Vagdevi Vilas School celebrated the Valedictory function of Intra school sports meet (2018-19) . The chief Guest was Sri K Harish , Chairman of VVI, awarded the students with medals and certificates for the various events conducted from 24-10-2018 to 26-10-2018 during the INTRA SCHOOL SPORTS MEET (2018-19) in a very grand manner to develop harmony and health. The chief guest addressed all the sportsmen and inspired them to show their talent and sportsmanship. He also inspired them to look at sports as a field of career. The day was a great experience in the life of students. The overall championship was won by Sapphire House for their fabulous performance in all the events.
