As India marks the 73rd Independence Day Celebration, Vagdevi Vilas School and College, Bidadi decked up for the occasion. The celebration officially began with the national anthem sung by all swelling the chest with patriotism. The chief guest of the day Sri. Hiriyanna, the former scientist at ISRO, received the guard of honour, unfurled the flag, oversaw the parade by the students.
The chief guest spoke on the importance of issues and challenges that the country is encountering at present. He aspired the students to be the good citizens of the motherland, India.
Dr. Kumar, Principal of Vagdevi Vilas College, expressed concern at the reckless attitude of citizens of Independent India. How a systematic deforestation and encroachment of forest land leads to recent floods in the country. Besides, he emphasised the significance of sustainable development. He also appealed to the students to plant saplings on their birthdays. For the same, students responded quickly and accepted the request.
As a part of the celebration a few cultural programs were organised with the theme of Independence. On the eve of the Independence Day, the college organised Rangoli Competition. Students enthusiastically participated in the competition to outshine in their creative skills. Rangolies drawn were captivating and drew the attention of all.
